Brief Introduction
Phenolic resin is also called bakelite, also known as bakelite powder. It was originally colorless or yellowish brown transparent. It is often sold in the market with colorants in red, yellow, black, green, brown, blue and other colors, in the form of particles and powder. It is resistant to weak acid and weak base, decomposes in case of strong acid and corrodes in case of strong base. Insoluble in water, soluble in acetone, alcohol and other organic solvents. Phenol is obtained by polycondensation with formaldehyde.
