Cyanuric Acid
Essential information:
Synonymous: isocyanuric acid (1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triol, 2,4,6-trihydroxide-s-triazine)
Brand Name: CYA
Molecular formula: C3H3N3O3
Type: swimming pool disinfectant
Physical and chemical properties:
(1) White crystals. The whiteness is above 90.
(2) It is depolymerized to cyanic acid and isocyanate at about 330 ℃, and the pH value of the saturated solution is ≥ 4.0.
(3) The precipitates from the water contain 2 molecules of crystalline water with a relative density of 1.768 (0 ℃), which loses water in the air and is weathered; Anhydrous crystals are precipitated from concentrated hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid
(4) 1g can be dissolved in about 200ml of water, without smell and slightly bitter taste.
(5) The product also exists in the form of ketone (or isocyanuric acid).
(6) Soluble in hot water, hot alcohol, pyridine, concentrated hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid without decomposition, also soluble in sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide aqueous solutions, insoluble in cold alcohol, ether, acetone, benzene and chloroform.
Application:
(1) It is mainly used to manufacture cyanuric acid bromide, chloride, bromine chloride, iodide chloride and its cyanuric acid salts and esters;
(2) It is used to synthesize new bactericidal disinfectants, water treatment agents, bleaching agents, chlorinating agents, brominating agents, antioxidants, paint coatings, selective herbicides and metal cyanide moderators;
(3) It can also be directly used as chlorine stabilizer of swimming pool, flame retardant of nylon, plastics, polyester, cosmetic additive, and synthesis of special resin.
