Octanoic Acid, commonly known as leucovorin, is a colorless and transparent liquid obtained by hydrolysis and fractionation of natural coconut oil. Slightly soluble in water, soluble in most organic solvents.
Applications Of Octanoic Acid/Caprylic Acid (CAS 124-07-2)
1. Octanoic Acid is used in the manufacture of dyes, medicines, spices, etc. This product is an edible spice allowed by GB 2760-86. It is also used as plasticizer, lubricant, insecticide, mildew inhibitor, rust inhibitor, corrosion inhibitor, foaming agent, defoamer, etc. It is also used for ore separation.
2. Octanoic Acid can be used in O/W and W/O creams, O/W lotions, skin oils, and bath oils, fat-rich capsule baths, shampoos, lipsticks, and other stick products and lotions with high alcohol content, and Aerosol products. The amount used is as follows:
In O/W or W/O type paste, the dosage in lotion and non-aqueous ointment is 5%~40%.
The dosage in skin oil or bath oil is 10%~60%.
The dosage in fat-rich capsule bath or shampoo is 3% to 20%.
The dosage in stick products is 10%~40%.
