Action mechanism: PVP is a hydrophilic polymer and has no antibacterial effect. However, due to its affinity for cell membrane, it can directly introduce iodine to the cell surface of bacteria, which is of great significance to improve the antibacterial activity of iodine. The attack target of iodine is bacterial cytoplasm and cytoplasmic membrane, which can kill bacteria immediately in a few seconds. When the molecules necessary for biological survival such as hydrophobic compounds, peptides, proteins, lipids and cytosine come into contact with PVP-I, they are immediately oxidized or iodized by iodine to lose their activity and achieve long-term bactericidal effect.
