Ammonium Chloride
Application of Ammonium Chloride:
1.Ammonium chloride can be used as electrolyte of carbon zinc dry battery and widely used in electroplating industry. Especially in cyanide free electroplating, ammonium chloride is used more. For example, non cyanide zinc plating uses zinc chloride and ammonium chloride as the main components of the plating solution. The coordination ions [zncl4]2- (or zncl3-) formed by zinc chloride and chloride ions in the plating solution have similar properties to [zn (CN) 4]2-, which can continuously dissociate a small amount of zn2+ ions and deposit them on the cathode plated parts, making the coating uniform and compact.
2.As an important raw material for the synthesis of inorganic polymer compounds. For example, high chain sulfur nitride (SN) x as a superconducting material is prepared by the reaction of S2Cl2 and NH4Cl. High polychlorinated phosphorus nitrogen benzene compounds were prepared by the reaction of NH4Cl and PCL5, and chloroboron nitrogen benzene compounds were obtained by the reaction of NH4Cl and BCl3. They are called "inorganic benzene" compounds, which are a kind of non-metallic inorganic materials of great practical value.
3.Ammonium chloride is a kind of quick acting nitrogen fertilizer made by the direct action of synthetic ammonia and hydrochloric acid. The nitrogen content is 24 ~ 25%. It dissociates chloride ions and ammonium ions in the soil. The latter is absorbed by crops. The former combines with hydrogen ions in the soil to form hydrochloric acid. Long term application of ammonium chloride requires additional lime.
4.It can be used as dyeing mordant, analytical reagent, gunpowder raw material, and also as welding flux. Because ammonium chloride and metal oxide generate chloride, it is used to remove oxide on metal surface during welding. Ammonium chloride with a content of more than 99.5% can be used as a diuretic.
Basic Information of Ammonium Chloride:
CAS:12125-02-9
Molecular formula: ClH4N
Molecular weight: 53.49
Physicochemical Properties of Ammonium Chloride:
Properties: colorless cubic crystal or white crystalline powder, salty, cool and slightly bitter, acid salt.
Boiling point: 100 ° C 750 mm Hg
Melting point: 340 ° C
Density: 1.52 g/cm3
Ammonium chloride (chemical formula: NH4Cl) is colorless cubic crystal or white crystal. It tastes salty, cool and slightly bitter. It is easily soluble in water and liquid ammonia and slightly soluble in alcohol, but insoluble in acetone and ether. The aqueous solution is weakly acidic and the acidity increases when heated. Due to the coordination of ammonium ions, the ammonium chloride solution is corrosive to metals, especially copper.
