Molecular formula: FH
Molecular weight: 20.01
Physicochemical properties: The aqueous solution of hydrogen fluoride gas, also known as fluoric acid, white bone acid, bone melting water, drilling water, rust remover and acid pickling, is a colorless, transparent to light yellow smoking liquid at room temperature, with pungent odor, specific gravity of 0.98, slightly lighter than water, boiling point of 19.4 ℃, very volatile, and white smoke when placed in the air.
Main application:
Hydrofluoric acid has pungent smell and high toxicity. It belongs to medium strength weak acid and is corrosive. It is commonly used in the manufacture of organic or inorganic fluorides such as fluorocarbon compounds, sodium fluoride, aluminum fluoride, uranium hexafluoride and cryolite. It is used in stainless steel, non-ferrous metal pickling, semiconductor industry as cleaning agent, glass etching industry as etching agent, steel industry as surface rust remover, petrochemical industry as catalyst The cleaning service industry uses it as a dirt corrosion cleaning agent or exterior wall cleaning agent.
It is used in the manufacture of organic or inorganic fluoride, such as fluorocarbon, sodium fluoride, aluminum fluoride, uranium hexafluoride and cryolite. It is also used for pickling of stainless steel and non-ferrous metals, engraving and lettering of glass instrument scales, glassware and mirrors, polishing of glassware, treatment of frosted bulbs and general bulbs, silicon removal and purification of metal graphite emulsion, sand removal of metal castings, removal of graphite ash, and manufacturing of Semiconductors (germanium and silicon). It is also used as a catalyst for dye synthesis and other organic synthesis. It is also used in electroplating, reagent, fermentation, ceramic treatment and the manufacture of fluororesin and flame retardant.
