Chemical property:
Insoluble in water, soluble in acid and alkali, slowly dissolve in ammonia water and acetic acid. It has strong reducing. It can release hydrogen when react with acid and alkali. It can agglomerate in damp environment, and stable in the dry air. It produces white alkali type carbonate on the surface in damp air. It produces blue green flame when burning in the air and produces zinc oxide. High purity reacts slowly with sulfuric acid and nitric acid. The reaction rate will increase when it contains a few other metals like iron, tin and Pb. Very fine zinc powder is easily burning in the air. When per cubic meter contains 500g zinc powder, and the temperature is more than 67, if there is flame, it will in an explosion.
Usage:
It can be used to produce inorganic zinc rich primer, epoxy zinc rich primer, etc.
The production of zinc-rich anti-corrosive coating: Zinc-rich coating is mainly used to large-volume components which are not suitable for hot-dip coating and electroplating. Such as large outdoor steel structure (ocean engineering, bridge, pipe, highway fencing wire, etc), vessel, container, etc. According to the difference of raw materials, zinc-rich coatings can divided into organic zinc-rich coatings and inorganic zinc-rich coatings. Organic zinc-rich coatings usually use epoxy resin, chlorinated rubber, vinylite and polyurethane resin as its raw materials. The content of zinc powder in dry film is 85%-92%. Water inorganic zinc-rich paintings use water lithium silicate, water potassium silicate, TEOS or cement paste as their raw materials. The content of zinc powder in dry film is 92%. The average particle size of zinc powder is 4-5um. The powder is narrow grain level distribution. And the dispersion is good.
