5-Methylpyrazine-2-Carboxylic Acid is light yellow (or almost white) crystalline powder,the main content of the product is more than 99%,CAS number is: 5521-55-1,molecular formula C6H6N2O2, molecular weight 138.12, melting point 166-169°C. The main drug is an important intermediate of glipizide and hypolipidemic drugs for Acipimox. Packing specification is 25kg cardboard barrels.

Typical Properties

5-Methylpyrazine-2-carboxylic acid is an important pharmaceutical intermediate. It is mainly used for the preparation of important antidiabetic drugs, glipizide pyrazine and a new generation of long-acting antilipemic drug acipimoxim. Meanwhile, its derivative 2- methyl -5- pyrazine methyl formate is also an important drug for the treatment of tuberculosis. The product can be prepared by electrolytic oxidation of 2,5-dimethyl or 2-methyl-5 - (substituted) methylpyrazine.
