Physicochemical properties: Colorless liquid. Melting point - 51 ℃, boiling point 92-93 ℃, relative density (20 / 20 ℃) 0.785, refractive index (nd20) 1.3902. It is miscible with ethanol and ether and slightly soluble in water.

Application: Isovaleraldehyde naturally exists in essential oils such as citrus and lemon. It has apple like aroma when highly diluted, and peach aroma when the concentration is lower than 10ppm. China's GB2760-86 is prescribed to be used as an edible spice, mainly used for the preparation of various fruit flavors. The product is an intermediate of the antispasmodic drug xinzhuokeding.
