Uses
Pharmaceutical intermediate: 3-Methyl-1-Phenyl-5-Pyrazolone(PMP) is mainly used to synthesize pyrazolone antipyretic and analgesic drugs such as metamizole, antipyrine, aminopyrine, and edaravone.
Dye intermediate: 3-Methyl-1-Phenyl-5-Pyrazolone(PMP) is used to synthesize pyrazolone acid dyes such as acid mordant red BN and eternal yellow G; For compositing Acid yellow 11, mordant Orange 3, mordant red 94, acid orange 63, direct orange 30, etc.

1-Phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone/PMP (i.e. Edaravone) is a new type of free radical scavenger. Edaravone was first marketed in Japan in April 2001. Edaravone is mainly used to treat ischemic stroke. Edaravone exists in the form of an anion, which can provide one electron to free radical to eliminate free radical. Because its molecular structure contains lipophilic groups, 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone is easy to reach brain tissue through the blood-brain barrier and has a protective effect on nerve cell damage caused by cerebral ischemia.
