Glycine is one of the 20 members of amino acid series with the simplest structure, also known as aminoacetic acid. It is a non essential amino acid for human body. It has both acidic and basic functional groups in the molecule. It is a strong electrolyte in aqueous solution, has high solubility in strong polar solvent, and is insoluble in non-polar solvent. This product is mainly used in pharmaceutical industry, biochemical test and organic synthesis. For example, it is used as buffer, preparation of tissue culture medium, test of copper, gold and silver, and medically for the treatment of myasthenia gravis and progressive muscle atrophy, gastric acidosis, chronic enteritis, hyperprolinemia in children and other diseases.
