D-Chiro-Inositol (DCI) is a stereoisomer of inositol. It is an important part of inositol phosphate glucan (IP Gly), the second messenger of insulin. It can not be synthesized directly in vivo, but can only be obtained by exogenous means. It can regulate blood sugar and improve the symptoms of diabetic patients, especially those with type II diabetes. As an insulin receptor sensitizer, it can effectively promote insulin function and reduce blood glucose and blood triglyceride levels. It plays a very important role in the signal transduction process of hypoglycemic hormone insulin.
Insulin resistance is not only the basis of type II diabetes, but also the main thread of many metabolic diseases, which is the link between them and the common pathophysiological basis of these diseases. When the body lacks sufficient D-Chiro-Inositol, it can lead to insulin resistance. Insulin resistance is the problem of insulin receptor and signal transduction system (i.e. receiver) in the human body. Supplementation of D- endo inositol can increase the sensitivity of body tissues to insulin, eliminate insulin resistance, regulate the body's physiological function and metabolic balance, thereby reducing the incidence of diabetes.
D-Chiro-Inositol is a nutrient in the human body itself, which allows the body cells to better recognize it and has no rejection to him. In 1994, the American dietary supplement health and Education Act certified d-chiral inositol as a dietary supplement.
