Silicon Oxide
CAS:14808-60-7
Molecular formula:O2Si
Molecular weight:60.08
Physicochemical properties: It is a transparent or translucent micro particle with multi microporous structure, high specific surface area, high mechanical strength and high silica content. Non toxic and odorless. Good thermal stability and acid resistance (except hydrofluoric acid). Soluble in concentrated caustic soda. It has strong adsorption on water vapor and other gases and solvents.
Purpose: It is used as catalyst carrier for important petrochemical products such as phthalic anhydride, aniline, maleic anhydride, melamine, butadiene rubber and acrylonitrile. It is also widely used in refining petrochemical products, removing aromatics and selective adsorption and separation of some organic gases and liquids. It can also be used as an ion exchanger for removing multivalent harmful elements in water. It is also used for the dry storage of materials, instruments and other articles and the dewatering and refining of high-purity gas.
Silica has a large specific surface area, which makes it play the role of spacer between the particles of powder materials, and promotes the free flow of powder materials. It has great moisture absorption performance, and also enhances the anti caking and adsorption. It can be used as anti caking agent in food such as fat tail (essence), essence, spice, instant noodles soup, etc. The specific uses are as follows: in medicine, it is mainly used as lubricant, anti adhesion agent and flow aid. In the food industry, as a flow aid, anti caking performance. In the rubber industry, it is used to eliminate internal tension, delamination and cracking. In the paint and coating industry, it is used to control rheology, prevent lighting, anti sagging, anti ultraviolet, anti settlement and improve corrosion resistance. It can also be used as mould with excellent dispersion, solubility, high transparency and high whiteness. Silica can also be used as oil, edible oil decolorizer, toothpaste grinding agent, leather special matting agent, etc.
