Uses

1,4-cyclohexane dimethanol is used in the manufacture of polyester fibers, polyester appliances, unsaturated polyester resins, polyester enamel, polyurethane foam plastics, and in the production of lubricants and hydraulic fluids.

1,4-cyclohexane dimethanol is used in the synthesis of PETG other than, at the same time, as an intermediate in the synthesis of saturated and unsaturated polyesters from coatings, inks, adhesives, insulation, and some special-purpose aspects.

The articles produced by 1,4-CHDM had very high vitrification temperatures. With great hardness but also some flexibility, the resulting light-colored resin has excellent thermal stability and has better solubility and climate resistance.

The CIS trans mixture of 1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid is a white crystal, which is soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, acetone and chloroform. Trans-1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid is a white phosphorus columnar crystal with lower solubility in water than cis-1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid.
