Isopropylidene acetone is a colorless, transparent and volatile oily liquid with strong mint or honey smell. It is slightly soluble in water and miscible with most organic solvents. It is used as solvent, flotation agent, paint remover, insect repellent and organic synthetic raw material. It is the solvent of nitrocellulose and various resins. Methyl isobutyl ketone can be obtained by hydrogenation. It can also be used in the synthesis of drugs, fine chemicals and pesticides.
