Molecular formula: Na2S205
Product overview: sodium pyrosulfite is a white or yellowish crystalline powder, soluble in water and glycerol, slightly soluble in ethanol and insoluble in benzene. Its solubility in water increases with the increase of temperature. The aqueous solution is acidic. After dissolving in water, it forms stable sodium ammonium sulfite. It is easy to decompose when wet. It is easy to oxidize slowly and release SO2 when exposed in the air. Finally, it absorbs oxygen and oxidizes into Na2SO4. It contacts with strong acid to release SO2 and generates corresponding salts. When reacting with caustic soda or soda solution, it forms sodium sulfite, which can form adducts with aldehydes, When solid sodium pyrosulfite is heated to 150 ℃, it begins to decompose and ingest toxic substances.
