CAS:7782-50-5
Molecular formula: Cl2
Molecular weight: 70.9
Physicochemical properties: Liquid chlorine is yellow green oily liquid, highly toxic, with a specific gravity of 1.4256 at 15 ℃. Under standard conditions, the boiling point is - 34 ℃ and the freezing point is - 101 ℃. It is strongly corrosive to steel in the presence of water.
Purpose: Liquid chlorine is generally used after gasification and has a wide range of uses. It is a strong oxidant. It is used for bleaching in textile and paper industry, purification and disinfection of tap water, refining of magnesium and other metals, and preparing various chlorinated compounds such as pesticides, detergents, plastics, rubber, medicine and so on. In chemical production, polyethylene and liquid chlorine are combined to form polyvinyl chloride and chlorinated polyethylene. It is widely used in papermaking, textile, pesticide, organic synthesis, metal smelting, chemical raw materials and other industries, as well as domestic water disinfection.
