Usage: PMPA, also known as tenofovir, is an acyclic nucleoside antiviral drug, which can inhibit HBV multienzyme polymerization and HIV reverse transcriptase. Tenofovir bisphosphate, the active component of tenofovir, can inhibit viral polymerase by directly and competitively combining with natural deoxyribose substrate and terminate the chain by inserting into human DNA. It is the first FDA approved drug for the treatment of HIV infection.
