Lactose monohydrate CP, USP/NF, BP: widely used as fillers and diluents for tablets and gels, as well as diluents for dry powder inhalers. Medicinal lactose is an excellent new auxiliary material for filling and bonding. It can not only improve the hardness of tablets, increase wear resistance, smooth and delicate appearance, but also improve the internal "dissolution" performance, especially for insoluble drugs, which can promote the bioavailability in vivo.
Lactose monohydrate is often used for wet granulation or dry granulation.
In wet granulation, liquid cement or adhesive is generally added to lactose and active mixture by mixing. The obtained mixture is dried and screened, and finally pressed into tablets.
In the dry granulation process, the particles are generally gathered by rolling to increase the particle volume, and then the particles are grinded to their due size.
At present, the specifications of lactose monohydrate in our company are: 80 mesh, 100 mesh, 120 mesh and 200 mesh. Lactose for grinding and screening can also be provided according to customer requirements.
