Vat dyes are used to dye cellulose fibers by reducing them under alkaline conditions and then oxidizing them to restore the original insoluble dyes on the fibers; Insoluble vat dyes are made into sodium sulfate and turned into soluble vat dyes, which are mainly used for cotton printing.
