Properties

Phthalic anhydride, white acicular crystal or flake crystal. Specific gravity 1.527 (4 ℃); Melting point 131.2 ℃; SARS is easily sublimated at 295 ℃, slightly soluble in cold water, easily soluble in hot water and hydrolyzed to phthalic acid. Soluble in ethanol, benzene and pyridine, slightly soluble in ether. It is used in making dyes, drugs, polyester resin, alkyd resin, plastic plasticizer and strip theory.

Properties

Phthalic anhydride appears as a colorless to white lustrous solid in the form of needles with a mild distinctive odor. Moderately toxic by inhalation or ingestion and a skin irritant.
