Sodium Nitrate
Sodium nitrate, has the melting point at 306.8℃ and density of 2.257g/cm3 (at 20℃), which is colorless and transparent or white with slight yellow rhombus crystal. It tastes bitter and salty, easily soluble in water and liquid ammonia, and sparing soluble in glycerinum and ethyl alcohol. It is easily deliquesced. Particularly, the hygroscopy of sodium nitrate greatly enhances when it contains minute quantity of sodium chloride impurity. If it is dissolved in water, its solution temperature decreases, and the solution is neutral. If heated, sodium nitrate easily decomposes into sodium nitrite and oxygen. Sodium nitrate can help to combust, so it must be stored in the place cool and ventilated. It has oxidability, which may cause burning or explosion due to friction or collision with organic matters. It is irritating, lightly toxic but harmful to human body.
Applicable standard: Industrial sodium nitrate (NaNO3)GB/T4553-2002
Use: used in enamel, glass, inorganic salt, chemical fertilizer, dye, metallurgy, mechanical engineering, medicine, cigarette, analytical chemistry, fireworks etc.
Package: net weight 50kg, in plastic woven bag.
Attention: Do not mix with organic sulfonic acid type metal powder, wood flour and other flammable matters; protected against water, damp and direct sunshine.

Sodium nitrate is the raw material for the manufacture of potassium nitrate, mine explosives, picric acid, dyes, etc. Nitrifiers for the manufacture of dye intermediates. The glass industry is used as antifoam, decolorizer, clarifier and oxidative fluxing agent for the production of various glasses and their products. The enamel industry uses as oxidants and fluxes for the formulation of enamel powders. The mechanical industry is used as a metal cleaner and also in the formulation of ferrous bluing agents. Metallurgical industry is used as steelmaking and aluminum alloy thermal treatment agents. Light industry used as a fuel aid in the manufacture of cigarettes. The pharmaceutical industry uses culture media for penicillin. Fertilizers the industry is used as a rapid acting fertilizer suitable for acidic soils, especially for root tuber crops such as sugar beets and radishs and so on. Also used as decolorizing agent for molten carnitine. High purity analytical reagents, spectroscopic reagents, oxidizing agents and also used in dye synthesis and the manufacture of explosives and fireworks. Nitrates all have early and strong effects, especially at low temperatures and negative temperatures, acting as early and antifreezing agents. Used in toothpaste as a corrosion inhibitor, desensitizing agent, to prevent dentin sensitization. Sodium nitrate is mainly used in the field of water treatment as a corrosion inhibitor, boiler metal embrittlement. In addition, there is a wide range of uses in other areas. The addition of sodium nitrate inside the low pressure boiler system inhibits the corrosion of metals on the water side and prevents the embrittlement of metallic materials. Sodium nitrate, when used as an inhibitor of metal embrittlement, needs to be used in complex with sodium hydroxide and maintained in a certain ratio. Plating grade or chemically pure sodium nitrate can be used for plating black chromium additions, also in black chromium plating electrolyte, as well as in the low chromate passivation of the zinc coated layer, and in the oxidation solutions of zinc, magnesium and magnesium alloys.
