Main uses:

1. Pharmaceutical intermediates: They are important intermediates for the manufacture of a variety of anti-ulcer drugs, such as potassium cyanamide and ranitidine. Cysteine is removed from cells and used in the treatment of nephrotic cysteine disease; cysteamine can be used to detoxify.
