Sodium tripolyphosphate, also known as pentasodium phosphate, sodium metaphosphate, STPP, pentasodium tripolyphosphate. White powder crystal, good fluidity, relative molecular weight 367.86, melting point 622 ℃, easily soluble in water, and its aqueous solution is alkaline. It is commonly used in food as water retention agent, quality improver, pH regulator and metal chelator.

Purpose
Sodium tripolyphosphate is used in detergents as an assistant, soap synergist and effective dispersant for preventing the crystallization and frosting of bar soap, industrial water softener, tanning pretanning agent, dyeing assistant, oil well mud digging control agent, oil stain prevention agent for paper making, and suspension treatment such as paint, kaolin, magnesium oxide and calcium carbonate. Edible grade sodium tripolyphosphate can be used as food improver of various fish products and clarifier of beverages.
