Physicochemical properties: colorless, transparent and volatile liquid, with special sweet smell, toxic steam and strong anesthetic effect. Relative density: d4201 489kg / L, boiling point: 61.3 ℃, melting point: - 63.2 ℃, spontaneous combustion point: above 1000 ℃, slightly soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ether and benzene. Chloroform will undergo hydrolysis reaction with water. Commercial chloroform contains stabilizer to prevent decomposition. Chloroform is nonflammable, but it will release phosgene when burning in contact with flame.

Usage: used for preparing difluoro monochloromethane HCFC-22 (Freon F22); Used for triethyl orthoformate and pharmaceutical intermediates; Solvent; It is used to synthesize dyes, perfume raw materials and fine chemical products.

Packaging, storage and transportation: chloroform shall be sealed and packaged in galvanized iron drums or tank cars. Chloroform shall be stored in a dry and cool place, and the warehouse shall be equipped with ventilation facilities to avoid contact with water and prevent hydrolysis. The transportation shall comply with the provisions of the people's Republic of China on highway and railway transportation of hazardous chemicals.
