Camphor sulfonic acid is prepared by sulfonation of camphor, which can be used as pharmaceutical intermediate and resolution agent of amino acid drug polarizer. Sodium Camphor Sulfonate is a central stimulant for animals and can also be used as a respiratory stimulant. Optically active L-and d-camphor sulfonic acids are important chiral enantiomers for drug resolution. At present, only d-camphor can be obtained from natural camphor by bromination sulfonation, while l-camphor sulfonic acid can be obtained by chemical resolution from synthetic mixture.
