Introduction: hydroxypropyl starch is a white (colorless) powder with good fluidity and water solubility. Its aqueous solution is transparent, colorless and stable. It is stable to acid and alkali, the melting temperature is lower than that of the original starch, and the change of cold and hot viscosity is more stable than that of the original starch. Mixing with salt and sucrose had no effect on viscosity. After etherification, the ice melting stability and transparency are improved.

Purpose:

1) In the food industry, hydroxypropyl starch can be used as thickener, hydroxypropyl starch can be used as suspending agent and hydroxypropyl starch can be used as adhesive.

2) Hydroxypropyl starch papermaking industry: hydroxypropyl starch is used as internal sizing of paper, and hydroxypropyl starch is used as surface sizing. Hydroxypropyl starch makes printing ink bright, hydroxypropyl starch makes uniform, hydroxypropyl starch makes glue film smooth, hydroxypropyl starch reduces ink consumption, and hydroxypropyl starch powder has certain roughening ability.

3) Hydroxypropyl starch textile industry: hydroxypropyl starch can be used as warp size. Hydroxypropyl starch can improve the wear resistance during weaving, hydroxypropyl starch and weaving efficiency. Hydroxypropyl starch with high substitution degree can be used as printing paste.

4) Hydroxypropyl starch pharmaceutical industry: hydroxypropyl starch can be used as disintegrating agent of tablets

Properties

HPS is mainly used as thickener in food industry, especially for frozen food and convenience food. It can provide stable viscosity and ensure water retention under low temperature storage conditions. It can also be used with other thickeners. HPS can also be used as thickener in meat sweat, sausage, fruit beverage and pudding. It can also provide a fine, thick, clear and particle free structure, and maintain this structure at various storage temperatures, including frozen state, without any other miscellaneous flavor. HPS can also be used as the base material of chewing gum, which has good elasticity and chewability.
