1,4-Naphthoquinone is slightly soluble in water, and soluble in ether, chloroform, benzene and glacial acetic acid. It is a potential pharmacodynamic group to inhibit Mao and DNA topoisomerase activities. DNA topoisomerase activity is related to anti-tumor activity. 1,4-naphthoquinone is used to synthesize 2,3-dichloro-1,4-naphthoquinone, a pesticide fungicide, and anthraquinone, a dye intermediate.
