Ammonium persulfate is a white crystal with a molecular formula of (NH4)2S2O8. It is highly oxidizing and corrosive. It is easily soluble in water and has an increased solubility in warm water. It can be hydrolyzed into ammonium bisulfate and hydrogen peroxide in an aqueous solution. Its dry product has good stability. It will decompose when heated to 120°C, and it will become damp and agglomerate in humid air. Mainly used as an oxidant and the preparation of hydrogen peroxide, potassium persulfate and other persulfates. It can be used as a free initiator for polymer polymerization, especially emulsion polymerization and redox polymerization in the polymerization of vinyl chloride compounds. Used as a bleaching agent in the oil and soap industry. Used in the preparation of aniline dyes and dye oxidation and electroplating industry, photographic industry and chemical analysis. Food grade is used as wheat modifier and brewer's yeast mildew inhibitor. It can also be used as an etchant for metals. Store in a ventilated and dry warehouse, and prohibit mixed storage and transportation with flammable, reducing and organic substances. Ammonium persulfate is obtained by electrolyzing a mixed solution of ammonium sulfate and sulfuric acid.
