As binary alcohol, CHDM is mainly used to produce various polyester and copolyester, such as PETG, PCT, PCTG, PCTA, etc., and to manufacture polyester fiber, polyester electrical appliances, unsaturated polyester resin, polyester glaze, polyurethane foam, etc. It can also be used to produce coatings (coil coating & powder coating), which can improve the cold and weather resistance of coil coating and the gloss of the coating surface.

White waxy solid. It is miscible with water and alcohol, soluble in ketones, and almost insoluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons and ether.

▶ 1,4-cyclohexane dimethanol is used in the manufacture of polyester fibers, polyester appliances, unsaturated polyester resins, polyester enamel, polyurethane foam plastics, and in the production of lubricants and hydraulic fluids.

▶ 1,4-cyclohexane dimethanol is used in the synthesis of PETG other than, at the same time, as an intermediate in the synthesis of saturated and unsaturated polyesters from coatings, inks, adhesives, insulation, and some special-purpose aspects.

▶ The articles produced by 1,4-CHDM had very high vitrification temperatures. With great hardness but also some flexibility, the resulting light-colored resin has excellent thermal stability and has better solubility and climate resistance.
