Physicochemical properties: It has unpleasant rancidity smell and sweat smell. Colorless viscous liquid. Soluble in water (1 / 24), ethanol, ether and chloroform.
Application: It is used in the production of bromoisovalerylurea, a sedative and hypnotic drug. However, it is more used in the production of spices (accounting for 80% of the total boiling volume in Japan). Isovalerate used as perfume mainly includes hexyl isovalerate, propyl isovalerate, isoamyl isovalerate, tauryl isovalerate, benzyl isovalerate and cinnamyl isovalerate. Lower isovalerate esters are used as edible spices, and higher isovalerate esters are used in cosmetics. Isovaleric acid is naturally stored in valerian oil, vanilla oil, hops oil, laurel leaf oil, spearmint oil, etc. it is an edible flavor allowed in GB2760-86 of China. It is mainly used to make cheese and cream flavors, and also to be used in fruit flavor.
