Hydrolyzed polymaleic anhydride is a polycarboxylic acid type organic compound with high temperature resistance, which can chelate calcium, magnesium and iron in water. With good thermal stability, pH range and wide water hardness, it is an excellent scale inhibitor. Hydrolyzed polymaleic anhydride (HPMA), as a green water treatment agent with low price and excellent performance, has become an important member of high-efficiency water-soluble scale inhibitor dispersants. Especially under high temperature, high pH value, high alkalinity, high hardness and other adverse environmental conditions, hydrolytic polymaleic anhydride has remarkable scale inhibition effect on calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate and other organic copolymerization dispersants, which is beyond the ability of general polyacrylic acids and other organic dispersants. At the same time, hydrolyzed polymaleic anhydride has low toxicity and no carcinogenic and teratogenic effects. It is commonly used as a water treatment agent for circulating cooling water, low-pressure boiler water, and anti scaling treatment for oilfield water injection, crude oil dehydration and other systems.
