Product overview: Hydrochloric acid, molecular formula HCl, is colorless or yellowish, volatile and transparent liquid, with pungent smell, relative density (water = 1): 1.20. It is miscible with water and soluble in alkali liquor. It is forbidden to mix with alkalis, amines, alkali metals, inflammables or combustibles.

Product application: used as raw materials for manufacturing chlorides such as ammonium chloride, calcium chloride, zinc chloride, cuprous chloride, basic aluminum chloride and ferric chloride, as well as for the synthesis of dyes and pharmaceutical intermediates, sugar and leather industry, metal surface treatment, etc.

Packaging: when high-purity hydrochloric acid is packaged in storage tank or tank car, it shall be lined with glue and sealed tightly.

Precautions: This product is non combustible, highly corrosive and irritating, and can cause burns to human body; Avoid contact with alkali, amine and alkali metal; Operators must use protective equipment.

Properties

Hydrochloric acid has many uses. It is used in the production of chlorides, fertilizers, and dyes, in electroplating, and in the photographic, textile, and rubber industries. Hydrochloric acid is corrosive to the eyes, skin, and mucous membranes. Acute (short-term) inhalation exposure may cause eye, nose, and respiratory tract irritation and inflammation and pulmonary edema in humans. Acute oral exposure may cause corrosion of the mucous membranes, esophagus, and stomach and dermal contact may produce severe burns, ulceration, and scarring in humans. Chronic (long-term) occupational exposure to hydrochloric acid has been reported to cause gastritis, chronic bronchitis, dermatitis, and photosensitization in workers. Prolonged exposure to low concentrations may also cause dental discoloration and erosion. EPA has not classified hydrochloric acid for carcinogenicity.
