Properties

1-Chloro anthraquinone is yellow acicular crystal, soluble in acetic acid, nitrobenzene, hot benzene, pentanol, slightly soluble in hot ethanol, insoluble in water. This product is mainly used as the intermediate of anthraquinone vat dyes and other anthraquinone dyes, such as VAT Brown br dyes. In the industrial preparation, anthraquinone is nitrated with mixed acid of sulfuric acid and nitric acid, and then sulfonated with sodium sulfite to produce sodium anthraquinone-1-sulfonate. In boiling state, the hydrochloric acid solution of sodium chlorate is dropped for chlorination, filtration and drying to obtain the finished product.
