Maleic anhydride was previously prepared by the catalytic oxidation of benzene, but due to the price, it is now mostly prepared by the n-butane oxidation method.It can be used to determine the reagents of organic compounds with conjugated double bonds. It is also used in synthetic resins, coatings, pesticides, medicine, food, and lubricant additives.
