Synopsis: Colistin sulfate is white or nearly white powder, odorless, bitter taste, moisture inducing, easily soluble in water, slightly soluble in methanol, ethanol, almost insoluble in acetone, ether, free alkali slightly soluble in water. It is stable in the range of ph3-7.5. Colistin sulfate is produced by polymyxa bacteria and has strong antibacterial effect on Gram-negative bacteria. It is used to treat intestinal diseases caused by gram-negative bacteria, as feed additive and has obvious growth promoting effect. It is better to combine with sulfadiazine.
