Properties

Methyl acrylate is a colorless volatile liquid with pungent smell and tear inducing effect. It is soluble in ethanol, ether, acetone and benzene, and slightly soluble in water. It is used as the monomer of synthetic polymer. The copolymer rubber synthesized from methyl acrylate has good high temperature resistance and oil resistance. It is mainly used as the second monomer of acrylic fiber and the copolymer of styrene and vinyl acetate. It is widely used in coatings, adhesives and other industries. Copolymerization with acrylonitrile can change the spinnability, plastic resistance and dyeability of polyacrylonitrile fiber. Copolymerization with methyl methacrylate, vinyl acetate or styrene is a good paint and floor polish.
