2-imidazole is a versatile intermediate. It is used as an active ingredient and as a base material for epoxy curing. It is used to synthesize lazarsaban, an efficient, selective and oral inhibitor of bioavailability factor Xa. It can also be used to synthesize 4-aryl-5-cyano-2-aminopyrimidine as an inhibitor of VEGF-R2.
