Heparin sodium is an anticoagulant (blood thinner) derived from the small intestine mucous membrane of healthy pigs, and it is the most effective and widely used anticoagulant in the world.
English name: Heparin sodium
CAS No.: 9041-08-1
Molecular formula: (C12H16NS2Na3) 20
EINECS No. 232-681-7
Physical and chemical properties: heparin sodium is a white or almost white powder, tasteless, hygroscopic, easily soluble in water, and insoluble in ethanol, acetone and other organic solvents. It has a strong negative charge in an aqueous solution and can combine with some cations to form molecular complexes. The aqueous solution is stable at pH 7.
Use: For biochemical research, it prevents prothrombin from being converted into thrombin and has the effect of anti-blood embolism.
