Product English name | Sodium hypophosphite | chemical formula | NaH2PO2·H2O |
EINECS | 231-669-9 | molecular weight | 105.99 |
Physicochemical properties
Colorless monoclinic crystal or pearly crystal or white crystalline powder.
Relative density 1.388, odorless, salty taste.
Soluble in water, ethanol, glycerol; slightly soluble in ammonia, ammonia water; insoluble in ether.
The aqueous solution is neutral, and the solubility in water at 100°C is 667g/100g water.Deliquescence easily. It is relatively stable when stored in a dry state, but rapidly decomposes when heated above 200°C, releasing toxic phosphine that can spontaneously combust.
In case of strong heat, it will be mixed with potassium chlorate or other oxidants.
Sodium hypophosphite is a strong reducing agent, which can reduce salts of gold, silver, mercury, nickel, chromium, cobalt, etc. to their metallic state.
Under normal pressure, heating and evaporation of sodium hypophosphite solution will occur, so evaporation should be carried out under reduced pressure.
Product Usage
Electroless plating agent, for large-scale equipment and small objects that cannot be coated by electroplating process, objects requiring high precision and complex concave-convex patterns, inner walls of deep holes, objects requiring high surface hardness and wear resistance; or plastics , ceramics, glass quartz and other non-metallic materials surface metallization, the use of this product can obtain dense, uniform nickel, chromium plating, and more solid than electroplating.Widely used in electronics, aviation, machinery, petroleum and other industries.
Fresh-keeping and bacteriostatic effect, fresh-keeping of fruits, vegetables and cut flowers; anti-corrosion and preservation of meat, poultry and fish; can also be used as food additives.
Preparation of various industrial preservatives and oil field scale inhibitors, food industry boiler water additives, recovery of various metals from various chemical plating wastewaters and removal of chlorides and cyanates.
Catalyst, stabilizer, prepare polyamide polymer polyamide, accelerate chemical reaction; can be used as stabilizer for chemical reaction, bleaching of mechanical pulp, stabilizer for peroxide.
Also used as antioxidant; anti-decolorization agent, dispersant, textile finishing and medicine and other industries.
