Sodium polyacrylate is a commonly used dispersant, also known as 2-sodium acrylate homopolymer or S-sodium polyacrylate. It is a colorless or light yellow viscous liquid at room temperature, non-toxic, weakly alkaline, and insoluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and acetone. It is easily soluble in water and sodium hydroxide aqueous solutions. However, as the number of alkaline earth metal ions increases in aqueous solutions such as calcium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide, it dissolves first and then precipitates.
