P-bromotoluene is a colorless liquid at room temperature, insoluble in water, but soluble in ethanol and ether. P-bromotoluene is a toxic chemical. It is harmful if swallowed and has irritating effect on eyes, respiratory system and skin. P-bromotoluene can be ignited by open fire. P-bromotoluene is a kind of organic synthesis raw material, which is widely used in the fuel and pharmaceutical synthesis industry. It is mainly used in the synthesis of p-bromobenzyl bromide, p-bromophenylacetonitrile, p-bromotrifluorotoluene, p-bromocinnamic acid, p-bromobenzaldehyde, p-bromobenzoic acid and other pharmaceutical intermediates, and has been widely used in many domestic organic synthesis. High purity p-bromotoluene is the intermediate of losantan, an important popular antihypertensive drug.
