Amantadine Hydrochloride; Amantadine HCL; 1-Aminoadamantane Hydrochloride; Adamantan-1-Amine Hydrochloride; Adamantanamine Hydrochloride; 1-Adamantanamine Hydrochloride Intermediate
Brief Introduction
Amantadine Hydrochloride is the hydrochloride salt of amantadine, a synthetic tricyclic amine with antiviral, antiparkinsonian, and antihyperalgesic activities. Amantadine appears to exert its antiviral effect against the influenza A virus by interfering with the function of the transmembrane domain of the viral M2 protein, thereby preventing the release of infectious viral nucleic acids into host cells; furthermore, this agent prevents virus assembly during virus replication. Amantadine exerts its antiparkinsonian effects by stimulating the release of dopamine from striatal dopaminergic nerve terminals and inhibiting its pre-synaptic reuptake. This agent may also exert some anticholinergic effect through inhibition of N-methyl-D-aspartic acid (NMDA) receptor-mediated stimulation of acetylcholine, resulting in antihyperalgesia.

Brief Introduction
Aniracetam (Draganon, Sarpul, Ampamet, Memodrin, Referan), also known as N-anisoyl-2-pyrrolidinone, is an ampakine nootropic of the racetam chemical class purported to be considerably more potent than piracetam. It is lipid-soluble and has possible cognition-enhancing effects. It has been tested in animals extensively, Alzheimer's patients, and temporarily impaired healthy subjects. It has shown potential as an anxiolytic in three clinical animal models. It is sold in Europe as a prescription drug, but it is not approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use in the United States.

Brief Introduction
Amantadine was approved as a preventive drug for influenza by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in October 1966, and then approved for the treatment of adult influenza virus. In 1969, the drug was found to reduce the symptoms of Parkinson's disease and drug-induced extrapyramidal syndrome. In 2017, the US Food and Drug Administration approved amantadine controlled-release dosage form for the treatment of ADHD in patients with Parkinson's disease.
