Brief Introduction
Pivalic acid is an intermediate for the production of carbamate insecticide zopirimicarb and herbicide isoxapine. The initiator tert butyl peroxide prepared from Pivalic acid is an efficient initiator for the polymerization of vinyl chloride, vinyl acetate, styrene and acrylate. It is more stable than other peroxide initiators and can be used in aqueous solutions with various pH values and low temperatures. Derivatives of Pivalic acid are widely used to introduce tert butyl functional groups into molecules. They can be used as components and primary raw materials of spices, liquid adhesives, lubricants and humidifiers. Pivalic acid can also be used as drug raw material for the treatment of arthritis, pulmonary tuberculosis and psoriasis. It is the key raw material for the production of ampicillin and cefazolin antibiotics - trimethylacetyl chloride.
