Brief Introduction
Bromine trifluoride is a halogen compound with the chemical formula BrF3. This colorless, toxic and corrosive liquid is soluble in sulfuric acid, but it will explode in contact with water or organic compounds. It is a strong fluorinating agent and inorganic ionizing solvent. It is used to produce uranium hexafluoride (UF6) in the process of nuclear fuel production and reprocessing.
