Inorganic Acid

Periodic acid, also known as periodic acid, is an oxygenated acid of iodine (VII) in two forms, with chemical formulas of hio4 and h5io6 respectively. H + and IO4 − ions are present in the dilute solution of periodic acid. With the increase of concentration, periodate begins to exist in the form of normal periodate h5io6, and crystals can be precipitated from the solution. Normal periodic acid is dehydrated to obtain metaiodate hio4. Further dehydration generates iodine sevoxide (colorless viscous liquid). After decomposition of iodine sevoxide, iodine pentoxide (i2o5) and oxygen are obtained. Normal periodate and metaiodate can form salts respectively, which are called "normal periodate" and "metaiodate". The solubility and chemical properties of metaiodate are similar to those of perchlorate of the same halogen group, but the anion radius is larger and the oxidation is weaker. In organic chemistry, periodate can oxidize o-diol and break the carbon carbon bond to form two aldehydes, which are used to determine the structure of sugars.

Uses: widely used in making borate, water glass, borate ester, optical glass, enamel, paint, pigment, cosmetics, food preservative, leather finishing, printing and dyeing auxiliaries and medicine. It can also be used as anti-corrosion disinfectant and astringent.

In manufacture of optical glass and fluozirconate. Analytical reagent ; in manufacture of fluotitanates and titanium; raw material for zirconium compound and magnalium; catalyst; the production of steel and non-ferrous metal alloy, auto energy industry and senior electrical material, fireproofing, electro-vacuum technology materials, optical glass, fireworks, ceramics and enamel.

Phosphonic acid is the raw material for manufacturing phosphite, as well as the raw material for manufacturing plastic stabilizers (such as dibasic lead phosphite) and organophosphorus pesticides. It is used as the stabilizer of polycarbonate and the antioxidant of nylon 1010.

Fluorosilicic acid is an inorganic fluorine fungicide. The technical drug is colorless, transparent and acidic solution, which is formed by the reaction of silicon tetrafluoride with water. Fluorosilicic acid has disinfection performance and can corrode glass, ceramics, lead and other metals. It should be stored in containers made of iron, wax or plastic. It is used for metal electroplating, wood anti-corrosion, beer disinfection, etc. It is also the raw material for preparing fluosilicate and silicon tetrafluoride.
