Brief Introduction
Propiolic acid is an unsaturated organic acid, which is usually prepared by heating diacetylenic acid. Exposing it to sunlight converts it to trimesic acid. Propiolate is hazardous to the environment, polluting the air and oceans. Acid rain will form in the atmosphere, and the pH value is more likely to be below 5, which will cause serious harm to animals and plants. For example, metals in the dissolved soil flow into the ocean and affect the growth and reproduction of fish. Water acidification also leads to changes in the composition of aquatic organisms, resulting in an increase in algae and fungi and a decrease in bacteria, plants and vertebrates. Acidification will seriously lead to the reduction or death of fish in lakes and rivers. Propiolic acid is used in organic synthesis. It can be used to prepare propionic acid, trimesic acid, halogenated acrylic acid, dihalogenated acrylic acid, diacetylene dicarboxylic acid, ethyl propiolate, pyrazolone, dibromocrotonic acid, ethoxycrotonic acid, etc. Methyl propiolate can be obtained by heating propiolic acid with sulfuric acid and methanol under reflux, which is the raw material of antiviral drug iodine.
