2,3,3,3-Tetrafluoropropene, also known as HFO-1234yf, has a chemical formula of CH2=CFCF3, and it will replace R-134a as the refrigerant used in automotive air conditioners. HFO-1234yf is a new type of refrigerant that is almost harmless to the environment. In the atmosphere, HFO-1234yf will be degraded into trifluoroacetic acid, which is a strong acid with slight phytotoxicity, and will not degrade in water.
