R - (+) - 1,1 '- binaphthyl-2,2' - diphenylphosphine can be used as an effective ligand for transition metal catalyzed asymmetric reactions (including hydrogenation and dimethylsilylation). 2,2 ′ - bis (diphenylphosphine) - 1,1 ′ - binaphthyl and its rhodium and ruthenium derivatives can be used as highly selective homogeneous catalysts for the synthesis of aryl ketones β- Keto esters and α- Reduction of aminoketones. It can also be used in asymmetric hydrogenation and hydroformylation of olefins, asymmetric Heck reaction and asymmetric isomerization of allyl.
