Brief Introduction
2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine oxide, abbreviated as tempo, is a piperidine nitroxide radical. Tempo is orange red, easy sublimation crystal or liquid, and soluble in water, ethanol, benzene and other solvents. It can capture free radicals and quench singlet oxygen, and is a very effective oxidation catalyst, which can oxidize primary alcohols to aldehydes and secondary alcohols to ketones. Due to the steric hindrance effect of the four methyl groups, tempo is stable to light and heat, and is a very effective oxidation catalyst, which can oxidize primary and secondary alcohols to carbonyl compounds. It has the characteristics of high yield, good selectivity, good stability and recyclability.
